Syncroz Language Solutions, a language interpretation and translation company based in Ashland, VA, is seeking motivated individuals for the position of Freelance Interpreters for contracts throughout the nation.  This position will give bilingual candidates a unique opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients in multiple sectors including education, medical, social and community services, legal settings, general business settings and more.  Syncroz Language Solution provides interpretation through onsite, video, and telephone services, and we support 300+ spoken languages and ASL interpreters. We are looking for qualified candidates who are self-motivated, and have a passion for removing language barriers across all domains. 

Requirements:

• Interpreter training is beneficial but not required. Syncroz may be able to provide training to you. 
• Experience in interpretation is a plus.
• Interpreters need to have full fluency in their working language(s).
• Interpreters need to have excellent concentration and the ability to think quickly.
• Interpreters need to relay the style and tone of the original language, during meetings, conferences, interviews, and other events.
• Interpreters need to render spoken messages accurately, quickly, and clearly, with no additions or omissions and according to conventions of established interpretation protocol. 
• Interpreters should follow the Syncroz interpreter code of ethics, which guides professional conduct and interpreter protocols.
• Candidates must be 18 years old.

Compensation:

Compensation is a competitive hourly wage paid at a 2-hour minimum. The hourly rate will be discussed and set during the interview and will be based on expertise and experience. Mileage will also be paid to the interpreter at the federal rate.

Most interpreters make between $25-$40 an hour. Some interpreters in languages of lesser diffusion or ASL interpreters have different pay scales. Human Resources will be happy to discuss payment with you during your interview.

Please note this is not a full time or part-time position but instead is a position for an independent contractor.  Interpreters are contacted to cover appointments on an as-needed basis.  Hours can range widely from 0-30+ per week depending on the language, geographic region, availability of assignments and other factors. Being contracted as a freelance interpreter is not a guarantee of any amount of work.
